About Us


Nutrition Smart was founded in 2001 by Dietitians Matthew Lim and Kellie Gonano.   We provide a range of services including individual consultations, cooking classes, supermarket tours, corporate and food industry services.    


Matthew Lim, Accredited Dietitian-Nutritionist APD AN

Matthew Lim has both a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) from QUT.  

Matt is a passionate believer in organically grown foods, the use of functional foods in dietetic practice and he embraces a holistic approach to health care.  Matt conducts cooking classes and demonstrations on a variety of topics including Diabetes, Gluten Free diets, Malaysian Cooking, Beer and BBQ and Vegetarian Cooking. 

Matt is available for consultations at Redcliffe, Eatons Hill, Regents Park, Beenleigh and Eagleby.  He also provides home visits.


Kellie Gonano, Accredited Dietitian-Nutritionist APD AN

Kellie Gonano has a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) from QUT.  

Kellie has experience in providing clinical dietetic services in public and private hospitals. and private practice where she has had extensive experience over the last 10 years assisting many clients improve their health through dietary modification. Her special interest areas include weight management, diabetes, coeliac disease and cardiovascular disease.  

She has conducted many Supermarket Tours and reviewed, developed and analysed menus and recipes for cafes, nursing homes, schools, childcare centres and hostels.  Kellie has also written a range of nutrition resources including meal plans, diet sheets, recipes, articles and newsletters.  

Kellie is available for consultations at Fortitude Valley, Greenslopes, Cleveland, Wellington Point, Bracken Ridge, Strathpine and Dayboro.  



Our Team

Kyle Blackwell, Accredited Dietitian-Nutritionist APD AN

Kyle Blackwell has a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) from QUT. Kyle has worked in private and public acute care hospitals in the past and he also consults to nursing homes. 

His main passion is for weight management for the overweight and obese. He particularly focuses on the behavioural and psychological aspects of obesity such as comfort eating and binge eating. He has done further study in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).


Kyle is available for consultations at Strathpine and also consults to local nursing homes.



Cam McDonald, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Cam has trained in both Exercise Physiology and Dietetics and Nutrition in Sydney and the Gold Coast respectively. Currently, he is conducting research for his PhD at the University of QLD that is focusing on optimising body composition through nutrition and exercise for breast cancer survivors.

His interests in how exercise and nutrition affect the brain and work performance have been translated into fun, practical and effective presentations for organisations and/or individuals looking to get the edge that comes from a few simple daily lifestyle tactics. A must for the corporate or sales brain!

He has lectured and tutored budding exercise physiologists and dietitians, and has travelled domestically and internationally to present his research findings.


Nikki Smith, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Nikki has trained in both Exercise Physiology and Nutrition and Dietetics at the Queensland University of Technology.

Her special interests include nutrition for optimum sports performance and the impact of diet and exercise on chronic disease and optimum health.
